Step One: Registration Form and Free Consultation

Upon filling out a Registration Form (see below), one of Lyceum’s counselors will reach out to you within 48 hours to schedule your free 30 minute consultation. If you determine our services are right for you, we will schedule a meeting with you and your student.

Step Two: Our First Meeting

Once our counselor sits down with you and your student, we will fill out a brief questionnaire together. Questions covered include but are not limited to the student’s hobbies, school size preferences, desired location, dream job, high school activities, and so on. Once this is filled out, the ball is just getting rolling.

Step Three: Working Our Magic

After a thorough review and consideration of insights made during our first meeting with you and your student, our counselor will create a personalized document for you and your student’s review, including data on schools that fit your student’s criteria such as tuition costs, application deadline, acceptance rate, national rankings, student population, location, essay questions, number of letters of recommendation necessary, average and median GPAs for admitted students, and average and median SAT and ACT scores. Upon receipt of this document, parents and students will schedule their next session to take a closer look the data with the counselor.

Step Four: Creating a Gameplan

Step Four: Creating a Gameplan *

During the second meeting, students will tell their counselor what schools are potential great fits and which others do not pique their interest. From here, the list and data will be refined to a level that allows the counselor and student to create a game plan for next steps. Next steps may include essay drafting, learning how to secure letters of recommendation, interview practice, and campus visits for students and parents to attend.

Step Five: Edit…Edit…Edit!

Your student’s counselor will work with them on creating a schedule for drafting their application essays and personal statements. The counselor will also meet with the student for 30 minutes up to three times per week to revise their essay. All edits will be student made, but plenty of comments and advising will be conferred by the counselor.

Step Six: Wait…That’s it?

You read that right. You’re done! As soon as you turn in the applications according to the application schedule provided to you by your counselor, you can take a deep breath of relief, celebrate with your family and friends, and sit back and relax as you watch the acceptance letters roll through your mailbox.
